Q: After the baptism of this season, Shenzhen team has changed a lot in mental outlook, especially in the face of strong enemies, the team played harder. The team this season has made the outside world sit up and take notice.
Shen Zijie: indeed, since my last team in the 2016-2017 season, I have seen a lot of news, saying that Shenzhen team has talent and is a very young team, but I can’t see the results, can’t rush up at the critical time.
But this year, we have proved that we can play harder, which is an important change. Especially for the semi-finals against Zhejiang team, our playing style and players’ mentality are different. I remember that in the second semi-final, we were 12 points behind in half. If we had been prone to collapse in the past, we still reversed our opponents. There are many tough battles this year, all of which are completed in backward situations. This is the best change in the team.
Q: To sum up the past season, what is the deepest feeling?
Shen Zijie: I feel much mature from the competition to the main away game this season. The team played very well in the sprint, which was beyond our own expectations. Many games were won. Similarly, the team is bolder than before in terms of employment, trying some such as “three big” (three players over 2 meters tall are present at the same time, and the defensive end turns from No. 1 to No. 5) with such a new style of play, the whole team also built confidence through the game.
