McGrady was born in Barto, Florida, USA on May 24, 1979. He participated in the NBA draft in 1997 and was selected by the Raptors in the ninth order in the first round as a high school student player.

McGrady’s NBA career has worked for raptors, magic, rockets, Knicks, Pistons, Eagles and Spurs. In his 16-year career, McGrady won NBA scoring twice, NBA All-Star team seven times, NBA best team two times, NBA best team three times, he was selected into the NBA’s best team for two times and won the NBA’s fastest progressive player award in 2001.

McGrady joined Qingdao in the 2012-13 CBA league. In this season, McGrady played 31.6 minutes on average and scored 25 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists. He was the only player who could play “25+5+5” in the season. In 2013, McGrady was elected the ticket King of CBA All-Star game, but he announced to withdraw from the event because he was going back to America to accompany his sick grandmother.

On August 26, 2013, McGrady officially announced his retirement. On April 2, 2017, McGrady was officially selected for the 2017 Nai Smith Basketball Hall of Fame.
