Live Bar, May 28 recently, former NBA player arenas talked about cutting 54 points to the first world war against the sun in the Old Man and Three podcasting program.
Arenas said: “I said long ago that I would cut 50 points on their heads. I was from the University of Arizona, when the sun won 16 consecutive victories. Coach D’Antoni told me before the game that if I didn’t score more than 50 points, I couldn’t win. In fact, I did it and I got 54 points.
“That was a moment that made me proud. Taking 60 points happened randomly, and taking 54 points was a personal grudge because of the American national team, I can’t revenge Coach K (teaching in college), so I revenge Anthony (hahaha).”
In the wizard’s 144-139 victory over the Sun, Arenas scored 54 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
Arenas missed the US team in 2006, when D’Antoni was the teaching assistant of the national team.
